Scrap Dealer Burgles House

A 26-YEAR-OLD scrap dealer is in the firm grip of the Sakumono District Police Headquarters for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing property worth thousands of Ghana cedis at Community 17, Lashibi, in the Tema West Constituency.
The suspect, Emmanuel Anthony Quarshie, a resident of Ashaiman according to police report, went to the area with another suspect who is currently at large when the occupant of the house had gone to work.
Anthony and his accomplice stole seven pieces High Target cloth, flash light, assorted jewelleries, 3 laptop computers and cash amount of $200 and GH¢1000 from the house.
Superintendent Alex K. Wowolo, Sakumono District Police Commander told DAILY GUIDE that the burglary occurred during the midmorning of June 26, 2013.
According to the police boss, activities of the burglars in and around the house attracted the attention of some neighbours who quickly called in the police to immediately deploy personnel to the scene.
He said a search was mounted in the area and with the help of some neighbours, Anthony was apprehended. His accomplice however managed to escape with the items upon seeing the police.
Superintendent Wowolo noted the owner of the house returned from work that midmorning and identified some of the items retrieved from Anthony. Most of the items were however said to have been sent away by Anthony’s accomplice.
He thanked the neighbours and the community for furnishing police with information noting that such collaboration when carried out more would help reduce crime in the area.
