Fire Chief Demystifies Cause Of Fire Outbreaks
The acting Chief Fire Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Brigadier General John Bosco Guyiri has attributed the cause of the numerous fire outbreaks in the country to acts of indiscipline by Ghanaians.
According to him non- adherence to rules and regulations is the cause of such outbreaks.
The makeshift residential area, popularly known as Abuja and located around the Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) in Accra, was destroyed by fire on Tuesday evening.
The fire is reported to have started around 8pm.
The area apart from being a makeshift residential area for some traders and porters, is also a location for commercial activities.
The area houses a market and a lorry station, citifmonline.com is informed.
Brigadier General John Bosco Guyiri made the comment to Citi News after touring the burnt Abuja slum at CMB in Accra.
He warned of more fires if people refused to be responsible enough to adhere to rules and regulations.
“We are always fighting for rights but we are not thinking about responsibilities. It takes discipline to adhere to rules and instructions. It is discipline that will make the nation achieve its goals,” he reiterated.
