One of Ghana’s enterprising gospel musicians, Cwesi Oteng, whose stage-craft and music  have won him much recognition, has won the Gospel Album of the Year Award with his ‘Mercy Project’ album at the Industry Awards Night held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra last Friday.
The awards ceremony witnessed splendid musical performances from the likes of Celestina, Raquel, Afriyie, Knii Lante and others.
Last year, Cwesi Oteng won Video of the Year at the 2012 edition of the Africa Gospel Awards (AGMA) held in London.
He won the award with his video ‘God Dey Bless Me’, and had to beat off competition from ‘I Go Dance’ by Sammie Okposo (Nigeria), ‘One Man’ by Pita (Nigeria), ‘Senjela’ by Dena Mwana (Congo), and ‘Hallelujah, Hosanna’ by Patrick Duncan (South Africa).
This young, energetic and handsome Cwesi Oteng, who is on BBnZ music label, had been groomed by professionals into a professional star, has won a number of awards.
Cwesi’s style of music is basically a combination of traditional gospel rhythms fused with other danceable gospel tunes, and his creativity is superb.
“It is very humbling for me to have earned this recognition, especially when all we want to do is to relay what God has placed on the heart of my team. I can only thank God for all the successes, and especially an incredible year as 2013 is even going to be bigger,” Cwesi Oteng said.
Cwesi is a recording and performing artiste, prolific songwriter and inspirational icon with a unique brand who is celebrated for his uncompromising stand on lyrics, music structure, creative productions, positive influence on the youth and image.
