Alfred Agbesi Woyome
The Public Accounts Committee was forced to suspend sitting on Wednesday because the legal team of the witness, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, argued the chairman of the committee, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, was ineligible to sit on the case.
According to Mr. Woyome’s lawyers, since Hon Kan-Dapaah was part of the cabinet that allegedly abrogated his contract, it was unconstitutional for him to preside over the case.
The lawyers also argued PAC cannot go ahead to hear the GhC 51 million judgment debt controversy due to the fact that the case is still in court.
Businessman Woyome appeared before the PAC today after turning down two previous invitations followed by a threat by Hon. Kan-Dapaah to fall on the Inspector General of Police to drag him before them.
The Committee wants the embattled businessman to explain circumstances under which he was paid Ghc 51 million judgement debt in 2010.
