AN UNIDENTIFIED man in his 20s was killed when a gang of four men wearing white t-shirts and black trousers opened fire on him in the wee hours of Saturday.
He was found dead in a pool of blood.
The incident occurred around 2:50am close to an intersection traffic light on the Tech Road at Amakom near the Children’s Park in Kumasi.
The victim, who was about five feet, seven inches tall, was shot when he was returning home from a funeral and died on the spot, DAILY GUIDEgathered.
ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, who confirmed the tragic incident, said a resident of the locality told detectives the deceased was shot twice in the armpit.
According to him, per the description given to the police, the gunmen, suspected to be neighbourhood watch members, were carrying pump action guns.
The police PRO indicated that his men were working around the clock to identify both the victim and his assailants and the circumstances leading to the shooting incident.
He said preliminary investigations showed the victim was pursued by his assailants for a while before being shot dead.
An eyewitness claimed that two persons on a motorbike went to inspect the body of the deceased after he was shot dead and fled the scene thereafter.
