Government has stated that it is not ruling out arson in the fires hence, the decision to bring in the experts.
Speaking at the daily press briefing at the Flagstaff house in Accra, Deputy Minister for Information and Media Relations, Mohammed Murtala said President Mahama was committed to unraveling the mystery behind the fire outbreaks.
“Government has received an offer of assistance from a team of experts from the United States of America who will be assisting our own security agencies to carry out thorough investigations into the recent fire outbreaks to ascertaining exactly what is behind the fires,” he stated.
Mr. Murtala further stated “The team will be arriving today and it is expected that once they arrive, they will move in quickly to liase with their Ghanaian counterparts to launch a detailed investigation into the recent fire outbreaks.”
The Deputy Minister also noted, “The government attaches a lot of importance to this investigation and is committed to ensuring that we find out the causes and take steps to prevent them from recurring.”
“Meanwhile Government has placed a GHC25, 000 bounty for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspected arsonists,” he added.
