BUSTED! Mohammed Gibril
The Accra Regional Police have arrested 27-year-old Mohammed Gibril, aka Mack Fuss, believed to have masterminded the killing of two persons in Ash Town, Kumasi on May 8, 2013.
The suspect, known to be a rastaman in Kumasi, fled to Accra and was hiding at McCarty Hill near Weija, where the police nabbed him around 10:00pm on Sunday evening.
He has since been sent to Kumasi to face the law.
Meanwhile, Rauf, aka Awukye, an accomplice, is also wanted by the police.
Narrating the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Accra Regional Police Commander, said Mohammed Gibril has been the leader of a gang which attacked Kwadwo Asamoah, aka Gawusu, who they shot and later butchered to death on Wednesday May 8, 2013, at Ash Town in the Manhyia South constituency and bolted.
Another victim, Victor Ocra, who was standing close to the crime scene, was also hit by a stray bullet fired by the assassins on that fateful day.
The killing of Gawusu, a known New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter by Mack Fuss, was to avenge an earlier attack on the latter in November last year.
After committing the act, Mack Fuss immediately cropped off his rasta hair and fled to Accra from Kumasi to avoid suspicion and arrest.
Police received a tip off, and the suspect was smoked out from McCarty Hill by the police in Accra.
Upon interrogation, Mack Fuss admitted having had a confrontation with the deceased, Gawusu, somewhere last year when he was shot in his thigh and also had cutlass wounds inflicted on his right hand.
DCOP Yohuno said the arrest of the suspect was a breakthrough in finding solution to the series of attacks occurring in Kumasi in recent times which had raised a lot of eyebrows.
Meanwhile DAILY GUIDE has also gathered that Gawusu and Mack Fuss were close acquaintances before they broke apart in bizarre circumstances.
Suspect Mack Fuss then left Ash Town to Abuom, also in Kumasi, while Gawusu remained in Ash Town.
In November last year, during the political elections campaign, Mack Fuss had information that Gawusu was visiting his territory. He then armed himself with a gun and a machete awaiting the arrival of Gawusu.
When Gawusu finally arrived at Abuom, Mack Fuss attacked him but Gawusu managed to overpower him and consequently used the gun of the latter to shoot his thigh.
Gawusu, after committing the act, fled because he thought Mack Fuss was dead.
Suspect Mack Fuss, later after recovery, mobilised his men to Ash Town for reprisal attack and killed Gawusu to avenge his earlier attack.
