702 Productions Ltd, the organisers of the Miss ECOWAS Ghana, has adopted Hallel School Complex at Kaneshie in Accra as its ‘pet project’. This was made known during an official visit by the reigning Miss ECOWAS Ghana peace ambassador, Miss Keshia Ferguson at a durbar held in her honour.
The Corporate Manager of the Company, Nii Amarh Amarteifio, who made the announcement, explained that by the decision, the Company would take keen interest in the wellbeing of the school, “whereby every year, we will come over and help build this great school”.
Miss Ferguson used the occasion to commission two refurbished classrooms and also make a donation of items estimated at GH¢2,500 to the school.
The items included mini bags of rice, stationery, boxes of Indomine Instant Noodles, mats, cups and plates, packs of sachet water, detergents and toilet rolls.
She expressed appreciation for the donation and entreated the enthusiastic pupils of the school to take their studies seriously and always be at peace with each other. She also conveyed her appreciation to the management and staff of the school for the warm and cordial reception accorded her during the visit.
Mr. Amarteifio recounted that the relationship between 702 Productions Ltd and the school started in 2010, when the then ECOWAS Peace Ambassador, Shirley Nwangere, visited the school.
He recounted subsequent Miss ECOWAS Ghana Peace Ambassadors Ramatu Sidik (2010) and Josephine Dickson (2011) who visited the school during their reign.
Mr. Amarteifio, therefore, entreated authorities and pupils of the school to “stand for peace at all times, as that is the surest way to bring about development and unity in our country and the ECOWAS sub-region”.
For her part, the headmistress of the school, Mrs Patience Lamptey, thanked the Peace Ambassadors and her team for the visit and donation, noting, “It’s been very productive, especially for the kids who feel inspired after meeting and interacting with the queen”.
This year’s Miss ECOWAS Ghana 2013 auditions will be held on Friday June 14, at the Golden Tulip Hotel Accra and the main event is scheduled to be held on Friday August 2, 2013, at the National Theatre.
