The convicts, Akwasi Adembe, Kofi Boah alias White, Paul Faaman alias
Amboley tied the legs and hands of the victim and sealed his mouth with cello tape after taking his Opel Astra car with registration number AE 1688-12, from him.
Rocky, who was said to be their accomplice in the commission of the dastardly act, is on the run and being sought for arrest to face the law.
The convicts were charged on two counts of conspiracy to commit crime, to
wit, robbery and robbery, contrary to sections 23(1) and 149 of Act 1960 (Act 29). They pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Presenting the facts of the case to the court, a State Attorney, Emmanuel Otoo Boison, who led the prosecution team, said on January 4, 2013, at about 8:00pm, the robbers asked the driver to take them to Point 5, a locality near Kwadaso, a suburb of Kumasi.
On reaching Asuoyeboah SSNIT Flats area, the goons pulled knives at the victim and snatched the vehicle from him before tying him and sealing his mouth with a cello tape.
Not satisfied with their nefarious act, they then blinded and dumped him in an abandoned vehicle at a mechanic shop at the outskirts of Atwima Koforidua in the Atwima Kwanwoma district near Kumasi.
The robbers removed the number plate of the vehicle and drove it to Buokrom, a Kumasi suburb, where they discussed its sale with one Prince Kwasi Prempeh on phone.
According to the prosecutor, Prempeh showed interest in the car and bought it at GH¢500 even though the convicts had offered it for GH¢5,000.
Prempeh directed the goons to give the vehicle to an auto sprayer, Paul Owusu Bempah, who is the witness in the case, to change its colour.
On April 4, 2013, the complainant identified Akwasi Adembe as one of the robbers who robbed him of his vehicle, after he had been arrested in connection with a different crime by the Suntreso Police.
Adembe admitted to the offence and led Police to the spraying shop where the vehicle was retrieved and also got Prempeh apprehended.
