Three persons have been reported dead at Gbani, a mining community in the Nabdam district of the Upper East region.
The three persons died when one of the pits they were working in collapsed on them.
In an interview with Citi News Member of Parliament for Talensi constituency, Robert Mansore confirmed the incident.
According to him, “there was a blast in the mine and it affected quite a number of young men and as soon as they were rushed to the hospital three of them died.”
He further stated that the Zhanghi mining company has been in operation in the Gbani community for over five years.
He called for investigations into the incident and compensate the deceased families as well as the surviving victims.
Some residents of the community complained about the activities of the Chinese miners who according to them endangered their lives.
Meanwhile other victims rescued from the blasted mining pit are responding to treatment.
