Arterial Network Ghana in collaboration with +233 Jazz Bar and Grill will on Tuesday April 30, present a number of performances as part of activities marking International Jazz Day 2013.
Musicians and groups lined up for the event, which will take place at +233 Jazz Bar and Grill, include Ackah Blay, Abiza Band and Sound Factree with singer Sandra Hudson as well as saxophonist Bernard Ayisa as guests.
Other artistes who are expected to perform are guitarist Sir Young, singers Ofie / Gyedu Blay Ambolley as well as saxophonists Ray Allen and Colonel Faat, who jointly and severally will delight the eyes and ears of jazz lovers in the city.
International Jazz Day, which was declared at the UNESCO General Conference in 2011, is intended to raise awareness of the merits of jazz as an educational tool and a force for peace, unity, dialogue and enhanced cooperation among people.
Initiated in the United States at the onset of the 20th century, jazz, which is rooted in African traditions that draw from European musical forms, has evolved into various styles throughout the world.
