The family of the late David Lamptey is demanding investigations into his death, as they suspect he did not die a natural death.
The late Mr. Lamptey, who was a financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a businessman died on December 5, 2012 and was buried on February 9, 2013.
However, his family suspect foul play and have secured a court order restraining family members from disposing off his will.
At a news conference in Accra on Monday, brother to the late CEO of SIDALCO and Radio XYZ Emmanuel Lamptey said the family has initiated a legal action because of the “strange circumstances under which David Lamptey died as well as the suspected fraud we have discovered in the will he left behind.”
He noted that: “We are concerned about the Will purportedly written by David Lamptey as we suspect that it has been forged. We want to state unequivocally that our brother and father has every right to dispose of his will in the manner that he so wished.”
“We intend to pursue this matter with the objective of bringing to light what or who killed David Lamptey. We would also like a thorough investigation through the appropriate channels to uncover the cause of death and eventually bring to book the individuals responsible,” he emphasized.
He added that “The content of the will purportedly left behind the late Hon David Lamptey seems to suggest a fractious relationship between him and the rest of his seven children who were born out of wedlock. The Will paints a picture of a wicked and inconsiderate father,” he added.
Mr. Lamptey stated further that “Our overall objective in this matter is to pursue truth and justice in a court of competent jurisdiction to redeem the name, image and dignity of our brother Hon. David Lamptey.”
