The Ashanti Region Police Command in separate swoops in the month of March has arrested over 150 suspected armed robbers in the Kumasi metropolis.
Among those arrested were eight women.
Addressing a news conference in Kumasi, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Augustine Gyenin told journalists that the swoop span areas like Adukrom, areas around the Kumasi Airport, Suame, Asafo, among others.
He stated that the police retrieved from the robbers “39 assorted passports, 16 rubber stamp, 3 locally manufactured pistols, 3 live ammunitions, 3 spent cartridges, 97 assorted mobile phones, 9 pairs of ladies slippers, 4 pair of scissors, 1 Dell laptop, 6 machetes, 1 Ipad, 2 pendrives, 3 digital cameras and an amount of GH¢3,860.”
DCOP Gyenin further stated the Police saw a shrine at their residence.

“We also saw a shrine where the robbers allegedly go in a bid to fortify themselves so that they cannot be arrested by the police.”
He indicated that the Police would hunt down miscreants in the region.
