GWC Adds 3.5 million Gallons of Water

Wednesday, 13 February 2013

The Ghana Water Company is promising an additional 3.5 million gallons of water by the weekend.

This is expected to ease the suffering of consumers who have been hit hard by water rationing in parts of the country.

The Water company announced the rationing late last week after filters in some of the company broke down.

Communications Manager at the Ghana Water Company, Stanley Martey told Joy News repair works on malfunctioning filters are nearing completion with the last one expected to be completed on Saturday.

Mr Martey said when that is done the suffering of consumers will be mitigated.

He also backed suggestions from the Convention People's Party (CPP) for monies to be released from the consolidated fund to the Water Company for massive infrastructure development in the Water sector.

He said the idea actually came up during a stakeholders meeting but is yet to be fully implemented.
