Agyemang Duah
THE POLICE in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Agyemang Duah, for possessing human skull meant for sale to a certain Mallam at Asawase.
The suspect, who claimed to be a native of Offinso-Tetrem, was believed to have severed the head of a corpse buried in the area.
Briefing the media, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyening said Agyeman Duah was yet to tell the police where he got the human skull and other relevant details.
According to him, the suspect had come to sell the skull to a certain mallam at Asawase on Monday morning when police arrested him, adding that his arrest followed a tip-off.
The suspect was paraded with other suspected criminals by the Police Command for allegedly possessing the human skull.
“We got information about somebody who was trying to sell a skull to a mallam and we swung into action.
“He never knew that eagle eyes were watching him in the process of selling the severed head of a corpse. We apprehended him immediately,” the police boss stated.
DCOP Augustine Gyening said the police would make known details of the suspect’s action and he would be sent to court as soon as investigation into the matter was concluded.
The police chief urged residents of Kumasi to go about their normal businesses without fear, and sought the cooperation of the public for effective policing.
He said anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of suspected criminals in the region should make it available to the command, adding that the identity of informants would be protected at all times.
