Four suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the police in separate operations for snatching various types of vehicles from their owners within Accra metropolis.
The suspects, currently in police custody, allegedly snatched vehicles within Dansoman, Spintex Road, Alajo and other parts of Accra.
The suspects are Nana Yaw Poku, 30, Nii Ayekwei Boi, 23, Prosper Kugbemenya, and Michael Osei, 24.
Three vehicles- Chrysler, Jaguar, and a Mitsubishi Lancer taxi cab- have been retrieved by the police.
Briefing the media yesterday, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, said Nana Yaw Poku was arrested on November 20, 2012, around 5pm at Alajo by the police.
This was after police had information that the suspect had in his possession a Chrysler car which he was re-spraying for sale.
Some police personnel were sent to the said garage to feign interest in the vehicle.
The suspect was immediately arrested after police recognized the vehicle to be stolen.
Suspect Nana Poku, according to the police, had been granted bail more than five times by the court for snatching vehicles.
He was freed six months ago by the court after he was nabbed for snatching a vehicle from its owner.
The Chrysler and Jaguar, two of the vehicles he snatched after his release recently, have been retrieved.
Upon interrogation, Opoku admitted to snatching the vehicles from their owners on the Spintex road early this month.
Owners of the vehicles have also been to the police station and are currently helping the police with their investigations.
Nii Ayekwei Boi, Prosper Kugbemenya and Michael Osei  were also arrested at Sakaman junction near Odorkor in Accra after they succeeded in snatching a Mitsubishi Lancer  taxi cab with registration number GS 3942-12, last Wednesday.
According to the driver of the Mitsubishi vehicle, he was hired from Tudu to Dansoman by two men who claimed to be businessmen, around 2:30am.
On their way, the two pulled him out from the vehicle and sped off with the taxi.
The two, on their journey, picked up suspect Michael Osei to help them sell the vehicle at Mankessim in the Central Region when policemen accosted them.
They are currently being investigated and will be put before court soon.
