Yaw Akrasi Sarpong – NACOB Boss
The Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB), Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, is currently in UK to hold talks with border officials in search of those behind the trafficking of 1.5 tonnes of cannabis to the European country.

The cannabis, described by UK officials as their biggest in three years was busted at the Heathrow Airport last week in a flight from Ghana.

Mr. Sarpong has accepted blame for lapses at the Kotoka International Airport which allowed such a consignment to sneak through.

He has served notice he may resign as a result.

Speaking to Citi News, the NACOB boss said his visit to the UK can help provide more information on the case.

“I want to find out whether there was a control delivery; I want to find out a number of things. As part of the cooperation, we have to go and find out what they have done so far,” he stated.

Mr. Sarpong has also warned he will take legal action against MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong to clear his name.

“I will have to go to court, even if it means staying in court for 10 years I will have to go to court.”
