A lawyer for NPP’s Communications Team member, John Kumah has told Citi News, he will proceed to court if his client is refused bail by close of Friday.

John Kumah is still in the grips of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) over fraud charges.

His lawyer, Attah Achia stated that the offence his client is being accused of is baillable and his continuous detention will only allow for political inference.

He said: “For me, logically, there is no way the man should have slept behind bars even for another 24 hours because this is a bailable offence and he has asserted his innocence for those who want to believe to believe.”

Mr. Achia advised that “we shouldn’t be feeding into the frustration that this guy is being punished politically. I wouldn’t but if you’ve kept the man’s bars of and concerning the case in which there is nothing to say and investigate; you feel that kind of suspicion and it’s not good for us.”

He however threatened to proceed to the High Court for his client to be bailed saying, “I have head of EOCO and he has given his firm assurance that he [John Kumah] will be admitted to bail. But if we have any idea that he will not be admitted to bail, we will move to the High Court and ask for bail because I do not see why he should be kept for that long.”
